Citizens Fire Academy

The Citizens Fire Academy is a ten-week program that gives residents an opportunity to learn more about how the Allen Fire Department is organized and operated. The Academy is each spring at the Ronald Gentry Training Center inside Central Fire Station. Participants experience:
  • Demonstrations of emergency operations
  • Fire and life safety training
  • Riding along with on-duty firefighters on emergency calls
Completion of the Citizens Fire Academy will provide an in-depth understanding of the department, but is not to be confused with a fire service training academy for future career firefighters.

The 2018 Citizens Fire Academy will begin accepting applications in early 2018. Class dates will be posted when finalized.

How to Apply

 
To be eligible for the Academy, participants must be at least 18 years old and either live or work in the City of Allen. Download the application or pick one up at the Allen Fire Department Administration Building (Central Fire Station). You may fax, mail or deliver the completed application to:
