1. Does the City of Allen Environmental Health Division administer shots or low cost medical services to Allen Residents?

No. All shot and medical services are provided by county health departments. Collin County Health Department

2. Are you able to assist when restaurant customers are dissatisfied with their service?

No. Service related concerns are a civil matter that must be dealt directly with the restaurant or their corporate personnel. However, all complaints regarding sanitary issues should be forwarded to our division for investigation.

3. Can a resident prepare and resell potentially dangerous food out of their residential home?

No. All potentially dangerous food that is for resale must be purchased or prepared in a City of Allen approved, commercial facility. City of Allen Zoning Ordinances also prohibit using residential homes for food production businesses except for Cottage Industry businesses.

4. Can I make baked goods in my home kitchen for charity bake sales?

Yes. As long as the baked products do not need to be refrigerated or kept warm to retard bacterial growth.

5. Do you inspect public and semi-public swimming pools?

Yes. All public and semi-public swimming pools, such as HOA pools and pools at local workout facilities, require a health permit and are routinely inspected by the City of Allen Environmental Health Specialists.

6. Do private swimming pools require health permits and annual inspections?

No. Although all private swimming pools are required to be maintained in a sanitary manner, they do not require a health permit or annual inspection by the City of Allen Environmental Health Division.

7. Do you inspect private houses for black mold, rodents or insects?

No. Since houses are private residences, homeowners must contact pest control professionals or HVAC companies that specialize in mold detection to determine if a problem exists.

8. If I see roaches or rodents in a restaurant, child-care center or school, can I contact you?

Yes. We will immediately investigate all complaints regarding insect and rodent infestations in all public food facilities.
