about the foundation
The Allen Parks Foundation was established in August 2001as a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit corporation. The purpose of the organization is preserve, protect, promote and enhance open space and the natural environment in Allen through cooperation and coordination with Allen Parks and Recreation. The organization exists to assist with the improvement of the city's park systems and recreational facilities through acquisition and development efforts; to accept gifts, bequests and donations in order to further organizational efforts and purpose; and to support and improve recreational opportunities in the city.

current initiatives
Funding efforts related to the construction of kidMania, a community-built playground, at Celebration Park was the first initial project overseen by the Allen Parks Foundation. The playground was built in June 2003. For more information about this project see kidMania.

Fundraising efforts with regard to the overall mission of the Parks Foundation for park system enhancements continue as well as pursuing new grant opportunities for future park development and assisting with sponsorship of Allen special events.
