Elected as Councilmember, Place No. 6 in 2002, Councilmember McGregor was reelected in 2004 and 2007.
Councilmember McGregor and his wife, Cathryn, have been residents of Allen since 1986. They have a daughter and son. He is a Real Estate Appraiser and Co-owner of McGregor-Echols Group.
Serves as Council Representative to the following:
- Finance/Audit Committee (2002-03; 2006-07)
- Nominating Committee, Quasi-Judicial Boards (2003-06)
- Council Liaison to the Keep Allen Beautiful Board and Animal Shelter Advisory Committee (2006-Present)

- Voting Representative, NCTCOG (2002-2005)
- Planning and Zoning Commission (1996-2002)
- Sign Control Board (1995-1996)
- Council Liaison to BOA, BSC and Sign Control Board (2005-2006)
