Board of Adjustment, Building & Standards Commission and Sign Control Board

The Board of Adjustment is a quasi-judicial board that makes decisions on appeals, special exceptions, and requests for variances to City ordinances. In the performance of Building & Standards Commission, the board has the power to declare a building substandard and can order or cause correction of dangerous conditions. They serve as an appeal board to decisions of the Chief Building Official, Fire Marshal or Fire Chief, relative to the application and interpretation of building and fire codes. The Sign Control Board is an advisory board which determines action on sign permits and requests for variances to the to sign regulations in the Allen Land Development Code. The members of the Board of Adjustment also serve on the Building & Standards Commission and Sign Control Board.
