Municipal Utilities Usage for Calendar Year 2007

The City of Allen is a customer of natural gas, electricity, and water just like any other resident or business in Allen.

The City purchases Natural Gas from ATMOS Energy (12 accounts) and COSERV (1 account). In Calendar Year 2007, the City purchased a total of 13,977 thousand cubic feet (MCF) of natural gas. The City’s largest natural gas consuming facilities are the Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium, the Municipal Library, the Allen Senior Recreation Center, and the City Hall.

The City purchases Electricity from Grayson-Collin Electric Cooperative (24 accounts), and COSERV (49 accounts), and Direct Energy (224 accounts). In calendar year 2007, the City purchased a total of 18,938,182 kilowatt hours of electricity. The City’s largest electric usage categories were water pumping, street lighting, the Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium, Parks and Sport Field Lighting, the Municipal Library, the Allen Senior Recreation Center, and the City Hall Complex of facilities that includes the Allen City Hall, the Municipal Court and Parks and Recreation Building (MCPAR), Police Station, and the Municipal Annex.

The City purchases water from its own Water and Sewer fund at the same rates as any other commercial customer. In calendar year 2007, the City purchased 92,368,400 gallons of water to support use in municipal buildings, median landscape maintenance, and parks irrigation.

In calendar year 2007 the City of Allen spent $3,014,567.50 for natural gas, electricity, and water.
