The City of Allen provides efficient solid waste collection and disposal, including recycling services and management of household hazardous waste (HHW). The solid waste division manages the City’s solid waste and recycling program, public education on environmental programs, the City’s HHW program, and provides staff support to the Keep Allen Beautiful board.
The City of Allen provides trash and recycling services through contract with Community Waste Disposal, Inc., (CWD). Allen residents are required to use City-provided trash and recycling services.
Recycling has never been easier. With singe stream recycling, residents do not have to sort the items. All recyclable materials can be placed in the 95 gallon poly cart.

Allen composts all yard waste since grass clippings and organic lawn materials have been banned from the landfill. Free compost is available to residents at the Allen Compost Facility.
The City of Allen provides household hazardous waste collection service for household chemicals generated by Allen residents. City staff collects small HHW items that are taken directly to the City of Plano’s HHW Reuse Center. In return, the items suitable for reuse are available FREE to Allen residents at the Plano Reuse Center.
As of July 1, home computer collection to keep old computers and their components out of the landfill is no longer being scheduled for pick-up from residences. Instead, the City has adopted a more fuel and air quality efficient process for quarterly collections to occur at City Hall. The next computer collection will be November 1 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at City Hall. Residents may drop off old computers, computer components, and cell phones. Additional collection dates will be announced.
The City of Allen’s contracted service provider for commercial solid waste services is Community Waste Disposal, Inc., (CWD). Commercial businesses are required to use CWD’s commercial hauling services.
