Expired Motor Vehicle Inspection or Expired Registration
Present proof of correction within 20 working days from date of offense and the citation will be dismissed with a $20 dismissal fee.
A 20% penalty fee must be paid to the Department of Motor Vehicles at the time the registration is renewed. If this penalty is not paid, the Court cannot dismiss the citation. Proof of correction for receipt showing your vehicle passed the state inspection test.
If the vehicle inspection or registration was expired more than 60 days, your citation cannot be dismissed. However, Present proof of renewal to the Court within 20 working days from date of offense and the Judge will reduce the amount of the fine to Court costs only. Present proof of a renewed Driver's License within 20 working days from the date of the offense and the citation will be dismissed with a $20 dismissal fee. Proof of correction for an expired driver's license is the paper license, which indicates the date of renewal.

Fail to Maintain Financial Responsibility (No Insurance)
If you were covered by an insurance policy at the time the citation was issued, you may present proof to have your citation dismissed. Proof of insurance includes the following:
If you were operating a vehicle other than your own, you must provide proof of insurance for that vehicle. The court will call your agent and verify proof of insurance before the citation will be dismissed. If the proof of insurance is not valid, you will be notified by mail or receive a court date to appear before the Judge.

If you need an extension to pay your fine, you may do so in person or by mail. The Municipal Court Clerk will grant you 30 days to pay the fine. If you require more than 30 days, you will need to return to the Clerk's office before your 30-day extension is over with $100 to start a payment plan. A fee of $25 will be added as required by state law if any part of the fine is not paid by the end of the 30 days.
