Rapid development in Allen requires the Park Planning and Capital Projects Division to keep pace with the population's demand for passive and active recreational facilities. The division is responsible for the planning, design and construction management of parks, trails and open space in Allen through the Capital Improvement Projects Plan. Funding assistance through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department as well as other federal state and foundation grant sources are actively pursued for the enhancement of public facilities and programming.
Planning – The division plans and conceptualizes master planning of neighborhood parks, community parks and other recreational facilities.
Design – Design professionals or consultants are often hired to produce documents to and producing various park and recreational facility designs for bidding and construction.
Construction – Scheduling routine site inspections, material testing, reviewing construction plans, reviewing shop drawings and product submittals are just a few of the processes required to ensure compliance with the City’s policies and ordinances.
Park System – The development of a parks system that is sensitive to Allen’s environment has long been the focus of the Parks and Recreation Department.
