Dispatch Benefits

The starting pay for Dispatchers is $34,600 ($16.64/hour).   Compensation for applicants with previous public safety dispatching experience will vary based on qualifications and years of experience.  Dispatchers are also eligible for overtime and holiday pay.

Health Benefits

The City of Allen provides dental, life and long-term disability insurance for employees at no cost. There are two options for the medical plan for employees and dependents. Dependents may be covered under these plans at group rates. The City also offers optional programs, including short-term disability, vision, additional life insurance at group rates and flex-spending. All employees are covered by workers compensation for injuries sustained in the line of duty. An Employee Assistance Program is available at no cost for all full-time employees. 

Paid Time Off

Employees receive eight paid holidays per year, including one personal day.  Employees with less than five years of service receive 80 hours of vacation per year.  Employees earn 72 hours of sick leave per year.  There is no limit to the amount of sick leave hours accumulated.

Retirement

The City of Allen participates in the Texas Municipal Retirement System. Employees contribute 7% of his or her salary to the program. Upon retirement, the City of Allen will match the employee’s contribution two to one. The City of Allen is also a participant in Social Security. 

Longevity

Employees who have been with the City of Allen at least a year receive $4 per month for every month worked. 

Tuition Reimbursement

The City offers tuition reimbursement for regular full-time employees with 6 months of service. See Human Resources for details.
