The K-9 Unit was established in 1997 and is responsible for many narcotic seizures and criminal apprehensions. Additionally, the K-9 Unit has recently constructed a K-9 training facility which will be devoted to maintaining the high standards of training for the Allen Police Department K-9 Unit.
The main duties of the K-9 Unit include the detection of illegal narcotics, building searches, area searches, criminal tracking, criminal apprehension, article searches, and locating lost or missing children.
