What could be better after a long Monday than spending the evening with
family over a picnic dinner on the lush, fresh grass of the Joe Farmer
Recreation Center Amphitheatre, enjoying live music filtering through
the evening air? How about being able to do that every Monday for six
weeks?
The 16
th Annual Summer Sounds Concert
Series kicks off on Monday, May 20, and continues every Monday with a
different concert through June 24. All Summer Sounds concerts happen at
the Joe Farmer Recreation Center Amphitheatre, 1201 E. Bethany. The
music will range from contemporary pop hits to Celtic
to
a Journey tribute act and more. All Summer Sounds concerts are free and
begin at 7 p.m. each Monday night. Light concessions and snow cones are
available for purchase. Ground blanket seating is preferred so that
concert goers of all ages can enjoy the best line of sight.
May 20 - The Killdares
Originally formed in 1996, The Killdares have come to be known as one of the hottest, cutting edge bands in music today – Celtic or otherwise. World-class musicians from all over the U.S., they have come together in Texas to create and perform a brand new version of hard-driving, alternative Celtic rock music.
Don't miss the Allen Philharmonic Orchestra and Symphony Chorus and firework finale on May 27 when Summer Sounds is on a break! Traditional symphony etiquette applies.
June 3 - Vince Vance & The Valiants
Vince Vance & The Valiants are a country pop and rock & roll group from New Orleans. The group is known primarily for the single "All I Want for Christmas Is You", which charted on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts on six separate occasions. In 2005, Country Music Television proclaimed “All I Want for Christmas is You” the Number 6 Merriest Video of all time.
June 10 - Escape
ESCAPE is a Dallas-based band performing a musical tribute to the arena rock supergroup... Journey. Since 2006, ESCAPE has been performing all over the D/FW metroplex and beyond to packed venues where the crowds love to sing along and dance to the timeless music of Journey, both old and new.
June 17 - Kraig Parker
From Las Vegas to London, Kraig Parker has been called the ultimate image of Elvis Presley. He has been astonishing crowds for over 15 years with his amazing tribute to the king of rock and roll. All ages are shook up by Parker's amazing likeness to Elvis in look, voice, moves and stage presence. There is screaming, there is swooning and there is the trademark scarf giveaway. This exciting performance has left audiences stunned, thrilled and hungry for more. Truly a world-class tribute show you don't want to miss.
June 24 - Good Question Band
In the classic style of great horn bands like Earth, Wind and Fire, The Commodores, Chicago, Kool and The Gang, and many more before them, Texas based “GOOD QUESTION” ignites the stage and audiences with great music, energy and a huge “wall of sound”! Performing a huge variety of music, including today’s contemporary hits to legendary classics, “GOOD QUESTION” has the look, the sound, and the song selection that sets the group apart from others – the perfect recipe for a great event and memorable experience!
