D-I-Y Options for Residential Trash
The City of Allen offers “do it yourself” trash disposal for Allen residents to dump two loads per month of residential trash and debris at the Custer Road Transfer Station, which is operated by the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD).

Service Guidelines
  • All loads must be secured according to State law.
  • ID required: Current City of Allen utility bill and Texas driver's license; addresses must match.
  • Loads must arrive in a passenger vehicle or pick-up truck. Trailers of any size are also acceptable, as long as they are towed behind a passenger vehicle or pick-up truck. Flat-bed rental trucks are acceptable (see below).
  • Stake bed trucks and box trucks are not acceptable.
  • This facility and disposal privilege is not intended for what would amount to commercial or business use by Allen residents.
  • This service is not intended to provide a method for residents to dispose of large volumes of wastes generated by home improvement or replacement projects. It is not for contractors to dispose of residents’ home improvement waste.
  • Two visits per month for trash disposal, and two visits for yard trimmings disposal, allowed for each household. 

Acceptable trucks

Acceptable Residential Items
Waste
Wastes generated within the residential property that are up to 6 feet for any given dimension. Examples of acceptable waste include:
  • Bicycles
  • Food waste
  • Furniture
  • Grills (no propane tanks)
  • Lawn furniture
  • Lawn mowers (gasoline and oil removed)
  • Packaging material
  • Rolled rugs & carpet or carpet pads
  • Stained/painted wood or fence panels
  • Tile
Recycling
The following materials may be dropped-off by residents to be recycled:
  • Brush, bagged leaves, grass clippings
  • Used oil (maximum of four per visit)
  • Used oil filters
  • Whole passenger vehicle tires (maximum of 4 per visit)

NTMWD’s Custer Road Transfer Station does not accept white metals (appliances). Residents can still take appliances to other NTMWD facilities. Remember to bring your current City of Allen water utility bill and Texas driver's license; addresses must match. For additional information, visit the North Texas Municipal Water District. *Construction materials, dirt, sod and soil must all be covered before transporting to the 121 Regional Disposal Facility. No uncovered loads will be accepted in accordance with state law.
