What is Project C.L.E.A.N.?
A city-wide crime watch initiative known as Citizens and Law Enforcement in Allen Neighborhoods (C.L.E.A.N.). Project C.L.E.A.N. was created to increase awareness about crime prevention and expand non-emergency based communication with the Allen Police Department.
The project goal is to work with all neighborhoods and residents to further reduce crime in the community and to become the safest city in the nation. Allen has been recognized as among the 10 safest cities in the nation three out of the last five years from rankings based on a City Crime Rankings study, published by CQ Press, a unit of Congressional Quarterly Inc.
How You Can Help
A great way to help reduce crime is to join or form a Neighborhood Watch group. Forming a watch group is easy – gather a few of your neighbors together who are interested and contact the Community Relations Unit at 214.509.2500 to help you get started. If there is already a sign in your neighborhood for a group, contact the Community Relations Unit to learn more about how to join them.
See It, Hear It, Report It
Life or death situations should always be reported to 9-1-1 first. Outside of those types of situations, if residents see or hear about something suspicious, report it to Non-Emergency Dispatch by calling 214.509.4321. Using this number for non-emergency situations helps make sure the remaining 9-1-1 phone lines are open for true life and death emergency situations.
Residents can also send an anonymous tip via text message to Allen Police by simply texting keyword ALLENPD followed by your tip to 847411.
Consider participating in the Citizens Police Academy which offers valuable insight into how our police department operates. It also provides further opportunities for graduates of the program to become involved in Citizens on Patrol and Volunteers in Policing.
Take Safety Precautions
As Allen has grown in population and attractions, so has its risk for crime and criminal activity. Being proactive by following a few simple steps can create some of the greatest deterrents to criminals and property theft.
