Open Government
The City of Allen promotes an open and responsive government. The City Secretary’s Office provides information in accordance with the Public Information Act by responding to all Public Information Requests.
How to Submit a Request
In accordance with the Texas Public Information Act, all requests for public information must be made in writing. A written request should reasonably identify:

1)  the records needed; and,
2)  should indicate a mailing address, phone number, or other means to contact the requester regarding the request made.  

You may submit your request in person at Allen City Hall, City Secretary's Office, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas 75013, fax to 214.509.4118, or via email to .

A specific form is not required for submitting requests, but a pdf form is available for your convenience.

The Public Information Act
Texas Government Code, Chapter 552, gives you the right to access government records. An officer for public information and the officer’s agent may not ask why you want them.

State law provides that a city may designate a person that is authorized to receive email or faxed requests for open records. If a city makes such a designation, the Open Records Act is only activated if the request is directed to the assigned individual. Resolution No. 2468-12-05(R) designates the City Secretary as the public information officer authorized to receive faxed and emailed requests for open records.
