Municipal Utilities Usage for Calendar Year 2012
The City of Allen is a customer of natural gas, electricity, and water just like any other resident or business in Allen.
The City purchases Natural Gas from ATMOS Energy (19 accounts) and COSERV (2 accounts). In Calendar Year 2012, the City purchased a total of 42,212 thousand cubic feet (MCF) of natural gas. The City’s largest natural gas consuming facilities are the Allen Event Center, Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium, the Allen Public Library, the Allen Senior Recreation Center, and the City Hall.
The City purchases Electricity from Grayson-Collin Electric Cooperative (27 accounts), COSERV (78 accounts), and Direct Energy (241 accounts). In calendar year 2012, the City purchased a total of 26,947,021 kilowatt hours of electricity. The City’s largest electric usage categories were water pumping, street lighting, the Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium, Parks and Sport Field Lighting, the Municipal Library, the Allen Senior Recreation Center, the Allen Event Center, and the City Hall Complex of facilities that includes the Allen City Hall, the Municipal Court and Parks and Recreation Building (MCPAR), the Police Station, and the Municipal Annex.
The City purchases water from its own Water and Sewer fund at the same rates as any other commercial customer. In calendar year 2012, the City purchased 178,538,700 gallons of water to support use in and around municipal facilities, median landscape maintenance, and parks irrigation.
In calendar year 2012 the City of Allen spent $4,347,632 for natural gas, electricity, and water.
