The award winning Allen High School Jazz Band sets a swinging mood with jazz from the 1930s and 40s.
The audience will be treated to such classics as Spain (Chick Corea), ‘Round Midnight (Thelonious Monk), Four (Miles Davis), Bird Land (Josef Zawinul), The Chicken (Alfred Ellis), Night Flight (Sammy Nestico), and The Heat’s On (Sammy Nestico).
Soloists for this concert include Josh Trent, Zack McCoy, Robert Thomas, Edsel Rivera-Rios, and George Eleftheriou, and Dani Cotton.
In March, the Allen High School Jazz Band traveled to Lubbock for a statewide Jazz and Blues Competition, winning the prestigious Outstanding Band for Class 5A.
The Jazz Band is under the direction of Matt Boening, a graduate of Texas Tech University and the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he earned a Masters Degree in Music.
