Councilmember Kurt Kizer views city council as a connecting force between the people of Allen and the government that serves them. An Allen resident for more than 20 years, he appreciates how the city has maintained its small-town charm as its population and business opportunities have grown. He strives to keep the city a great place to live and raise a family.
Elected in 2012, reelected in 2015 and again in 2018, Kizer has worked as a member of the Finance/Audit Committee and as council liaison for the Planning and Zoning Commission. Since 2013, he has been a member of the Nominating Committee and council liaison for the Public Art Committee.
Kizer earned his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Baylor University before becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Before his career as a councilmember, he was part of the Keep Allen Beautiful Board (2001-02), the Economic Development Corporation (2002-09), and the Planning and Zoning Commission (2010-12).
Kizer has been married to his wife, Melinda, for over 30 years; they have four children.
