Councilmember Robin Sedlacek has watched Allen grow significantly since moving here more than 30 years ago. She is proud to help facilitate the continued development of Allen’s park system and enjoys the many features, such as trails and playgrounds, that accompany this growth.
Sedlacek was first elected in 2007 and reelected in 2010, 2013 and 2016. She currently serves on the Community Development Corporation Board (2017-present), Finance/Audit Committee (2009-present), on the Nominating Committee (2009-present), and as council liaison to Allen Animal Shelter (2016-present).
Previously, Sedlacek served as council liaison to the Planning and Zoning Commission (2007-2008), the Library Board (2008-2012), and the Public Art Committee (2012-2013). She was also part of the Convention and Visitors Bureau Council Committee (2013-2015). In 2010, she was recognized by the Collin County Business Journal as one of “21 for the 21st Century.
Prior to her time as a councilmember, she was part of the Capital Improvement Steering Committee (1994, 1999), the Community Development Corporation (1996-2001), and the Planning and Zoning Commission (2001-2005).
In addition to her work on the council, she is an advisory board member for Allen Community Outreach (ACO) and a member of Christ the Servant Lutheran Church.
Sedlacek earned an accounting degree from Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City, Iowa. She then migrated to Texas where she became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She lives in Allen with her husband, Steve. They raised sons Derek and Bubba in the area and are excited to have added two daughters-in-law and three grand-boys to their family.
