Volunteer Opportunities
Keep Allen Beautiful (KAB) relies on volunteers and community groups to plan, organize and participate in various programs. If you are interested in any volunteer opportunity, please call 214.509.4555.
Volunteers are needed year round to participate in various public education events, adopt cleanup areas, and support beautification efforts. Volunteering for the City of Allen and Keep Allen Beautiful is a good opportunity for those interested in the environment and students seeking community service hours and scholarship opportunities. We offer various volunteer opportunities including events and office work. We work with students, adults, families, and local community groups.
How to join our Volunteer Program
We keep a database of volunteers of all ages for events throughout the year. We keep in contact with our volunteers through a mailing list. Each volunteer that joins the program will need to submit a legal and media release form prior to participating in an event.

The Adopt A Highway, Adopt A Waterway, and Adopt A Spot programs allow individuals, organizations and businesses to help with ongoing clean-up and beautification of designated areas. Adoption does not require a minimum number of participants but areas must be cleaned a minimum of four times per year. Program summaries are provided below. For detailed information and sign up forms, see the Adopt A Program page.
This program allows individuals, organizations and businesses to maintain a one-mile section of roadside in Allen. The Texas Department of Transportation's Adopt A Highway program, launched in 1989, is one of the most successful government-public partnerships of our time. Many residents have shown their pride in Allen by striving for cleaner and "greener" roadways!
Litter is a common source of water pollution, threatening the health and beauty of our treasured creeks and streams. The Adopt A Waterway program allows volunteers to protect their waterways and improve water quality through quarterly cleanups.

City of Allen provides reusable household chemicals for Allen and Plano residents through its Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Program. The Chemical Reuse Center is where household materials like paint, cleaners, pesticides and other chemicals are offered to Allen and Plano residents. The Chemical Reuse Center is part of an effort to keep these chemicals out of the landfill.
