Each year the City of Allen reflects on the accomplishments and achievements that make our city a great place to call home. In 2017-2018 Allen grew to more than 100,000 residents, welcomed many new and expanding businesses and celebrated a number of milestones, including the 50th anniversary of both Allen Public Library and Allen Police Department.

  • Allen was named a "Best Suburb" by CNBC, landing at the #1 spot in Texas and in the Top 20 in the nation.
  • Allen Police Department was named a "Texas Best Practice Agency" for the third time.
  • Money Magazine ranked Allen as the #2 "Best Place to Start a Career" due to projected job growth of 17%.
  • Allen's superior AAA ratings helped lower debt and provide funds for voter-approved projects, including $5.65 million for renovating Central Fire Station, $1.5 million for adding lanes to Ridgeview Drive, $800,000 for citywide pavement replacement, $740,000 for intersection improvements and $500,000 for Central Business District street reconstruction.
  • Allen Public Library won the Achievement of Library Excellence Award for the 4th consecutive year.
  • Allen's Purchasing Division received the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement award for their work in lowering costs for goods and services.
  • Allen Teen Court attorneys placed in the rankings of a mock trial competition.
