Programs and Clubs

These Allen Senior Recreation Center activities and groups meet once a week, year-round and they welcome new participants. The atmosphere is relaxed and casual. Please refer to the Center-Link newsletter for dates and times for programs listed below.

Garden Group

Are you a gardener? Do you enjoy getting your hands dirty in the garden and reaping the rewards of all your labor during harvest? Please come and help cultivate our own Garden out back along with your fellow ASRC members. Cost: FREE

Beyond the Bridge Nature Walk

Join Blackland Prairie Master Naturalists as they take you on a nature journey Beyond the Bridge. Meet in the Dining Room before venturing out on the trail behind the ASRC. Everyone is welcome to participate and will benefit from this fun adventure! Cost: FREE

Trike Skills 101

Learn basic trike skills using parking lots drills. You'll learn the correct way to start and stop on the trike, simple maneuvering techniques, signaling and more. Once you pass Trike Skills 101, you may begin reserving your next adventure at the Front Desk. Cost: FREE

Trike Group Rides

Beginning March 2, familiarize yourself with the trikes and the trails as you join volunteers Jim and Liz on an exciting group adventure! Must pass Trike Skills 101 to ride along. Pre-registration required. Cost: FREE

Cash Bingo

Card purchases begin at 1:15 p.m. promptly, and cost is $1 per card with a maximum of six cards per person. Membership required to participate. Win up to $10.

Collectors Club

Are you a collector of coins, stamps, currency, memorabilia, autographs or anything else that you own? Bring your collection or just bring yourself to learn more about this hobby. Bring your collections such as coins, medals, trains, toys, Nascar, porcelain figurines, clocks, watches, Disney, Star Wars and even Matchbook and Swizzle sticks for free appraisals. Cost: FREE

Genealogy Club

Members of this club enjoy tracing their roots. Join experienced genealogists and beginners. New members welcome anytime. Program includes special speakers and trips. Meetings are held on the fourth Monday of each month, unless otherwise noted due to holidays. Cost: FREE

Modeling Club

What is modeling? Modeling is creating objects such as trains, planes, automobiles, ships, buildings or structures as a hobby. Members can bring their projects or just bring themselves to learn about modeling. Cost: FREE
Tuesdays | 1:30 - 3:30 p.m.

Stichin' Time

Bring any kind of handwork project such as crochet, knit, embroidery or cross stitch. Enjoy fellowship and fun while working on projects. Led by all how come! Cost: FREE
Mondays | 12:30 - 3 p.m.

Quilting Club

Bring a quilting project and share information, fun and friendship. This group meets on the first and third Wednesday of the month except holidays. Cost: FREE
