The Finance Department is responsible for planning and maintaining the city's financial health through oversight of the Accounting Division, Budget Division, Purchasing Division and Municipal Court. 

Fiscal Year 2018-2019 Proposed Annual Budget

On July 24, 2018 the Allen City Council received the Proposed Budget for Fiscal Year 2018-2019 along with the proposed Capital Improvement Program for Fiscal Year 2019-2023. Both documents will be reviewed by City Council prior to adoption. 

In accordance with City ordinance, two public hearings for the proposed budget have been scheduled.

  • Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 28, 2018 at 7 p.m.

Both public hearings will be held at Allen City Hall, located at One Allen Civic Plaza, 305 Century Parkway, Allen, Texas. Allen City Council will vote to approve the proposed budget on September 11, 2018. 

Fiscal Year 2017-2018 Annual Budget

The Allen City Council approved the budget for Fiscal Year 2017-2018 on September 12, 2017.

For the 18th year in a row, the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) awarded the city with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its Fiscal Year 2016-2017 budget document. The GFOA administers the only national awards program for governmental budgeting.

The award reflects the commitment of Allen City Council and city staff to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. In order to receive the budget award, the City of Allen must satisfy nationally-recognized guidelines for an effective budget presentation. The guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity’s budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.
