TxDOT will extend a concrete curb on the southbound entrance ramp to US 75 near Curtis Lane to curtail illegal maneuvers.

Though signs warn drivers not to cross multiple lanes of traffic to enter the US 75 ramp from Curtis Lane, many still do it. A local news station even highlighted the problem. TxDOT agreed to extend the concrete curb when it was clear that signs and double white lines weren’t working.

Work on this ramp is scheduled to begin Monday, August 27. Drivers who use Curtis Lane can still access US 75 using the ramp just south of Exchange Parkway, less than a quarter of a mile away, without even going through a traffic light.

After numerous delays, TxDOT will resume construction for the widening of Stacy Road, east of Greenville Avenue.

Construction was put on hold for several months as a natural gas line was being relocated out of the way. City of Allen staff assisted TxDOT to prevent further project delays by working to avoid relocating City water lines. City staff also successfully urged TxDOT to preserve many trees along the new roadway, which were to be removed during construction.

The TxDOT project will expand Stacy Road from two lanes to four between Greenville Avenue and Country Club Road. The City of Allen recently partnered with Town of Fairview to expand the current project to improve the Greenville Intersection at Stacy by adding additional lanes in all directions, in anticipation of traffic growth for the foreseeable future.

Though weather will determine the exact date work begins, contractors will resume the roadway expansion in mid- to late August. TxDOT expects to finish the project in January 2019.
