Allen's Teen Court program allows teens to serve as defense and prosecuting attorneys, bailiffs, jurors and clerks. Participants gain community service hours, can receive letters of recommendation for colleges and scholarships, develop strong interpersonal skills and experience court procedures and the legal system firsthand.
Allen's Teen Court program allows teens to serve as defense and prosecuting attorneys, bailiffs, jurors and clerks. All participants must complete an application before volunteering for an upcoming Teen Court trial. Juror positions are available to all applicants. Applicants must attend a mandatory 3-hour training session before volunteering for attorney, bailiff or clerk positions.
Everyone attending Teen Court should dress in attire respecting the dignity of the court. No jeans, shorts, tank tops, crop tops, hats or flip flops allowed. Youth attorneys are expected to wear businesslike attire. Dress code is strictly enforced.
Courtroom restrictions include:
- No electronic devices (including cell phones)
- No audio/visual recordings without permission
- No pets
- No weapons
- No gum, food or drinks
- No tobacco/vaping/e-cigarettes
All persons are subject to search.
