[ARCHIVED] Area Around Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm to Get New Roadway

As development around Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm continues to expand, Allen City Council approved design work to begin for the construction of Montgomery Boulevard and Bridge. New residential developments near Bethany Drive and Watters Branch Creek will benefit from the construction of Montgomery Boulevard to access the US75 frontage road.

Montgomery Boulevard is planned as a collector roadway, or one that provides the linkage between local neighborhood streets and larger roadways such as Bethany and US75. The recently approved design will include three lanes from the US75 frontage road to Watters Branch Creek and a bridge across Watters Branch Creek. The remainder of the roadway, from the creek to the existing ending of Montgomery Bridge will be designed and constructed by the developers of the new Montgomery Ridge neighborhood (Montgomery Family).

All in all, the construction of the entire road is a joint effort between the City of Allen, the owners of Watters Creek at Montgomery Farm Shopping Center, and the Montgomery Family. Ultimately, most of the City of Allen expenses will be reimbursed by the owners of the Watters Creek Shopping Center through a modification to existing development agreements.

Design of Montgomery Boulevard is expected to be complete by early 2015 with construction anticipated to begin in the Spring. Construction of the entire roadway will be complete by April 2016.
