Contractors will widen Alma Drive and extend Montgomery Boulevard following approval from City Council.
The Montgomery Boulevard project will eventually connect Bethany Drive to the US 75 Frontage Road. The first phase of the project will extend from US 75 to just west of the Watters Branch Creek, including a bridge to span the creek. The second phase will be built later, along with Phase 2 of the Montgomery Ridge Project. The full road is expected to open by April 1, 2016.
Allen will take advantage of matching funding from Collin County to widen Alma Drive. The project will add one northbound and one southbound lane in the existing Alma Drive median from SH 121 to Hedgecoxe Road. The City estimates the project will cost $5.5 million. Collin County has agreed to cover 50% of the project budget, or up to $2.75 million. The city will update the project with an expected completion date once a contractor is chosen.
