Repairs will begin this summer on the eroded banks of Cottonwood Creek. The western bank, north of Bethany Drive near Ashwood Drive, has weakened after decades of erosion. The crumbling bank forced the closure of the adjacent hike and bike trail; if it retreats further, it may threaten a nearby sewer main.
In April, the city contracted Huitt-Zollars, Inc. to design a solution for the damaged bank, including a concrete retaining wall, rebuilt hike-and-bike trail and site grading. On July 14, city council members awarded the construction bid to Ark Contracting Services, LLC.
Construction will begin once the creek reaches its seasonal low point. The work is expected to take 3-4 months.
