Allen residents dropped off 998 lbs. of prescriptions, vitamins and other medication during National Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Sep. 26. Officers and volunteers manned the collection site at Lowery Freshman Center from 10 a.m to 2 p.m. The event offered safe and confidential disposal of medication and medical sharps.
The National Drug Take Back Day was launched by the Drug Enforcement Agency in 2010. The event helps prevent drug abuse by offering free disposal of expired or unwanted medication. It also helps keep medications out of local landfills and water supplies.
