[ARCHIVED] Rape Aggression Defense Class begins Oct. 27


The Allen Police Department is now accepting applications for the next Basic Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) class. R.A.D. is an empowering self defense course designed to develop and enhance the options of self defense, so they may become viable considerations for the woman who is attacked.

The four-week class will meet on Tuesday evenings, Oct. 27 through Nov. 17. Classes will be held at the Allen Heights Baptist Church gymnasium (1309 E. Main St.) from 6:30-9:30 p.m. The class fee is $25 and allows students to attend future R.A.D. courses free of charge. The fee can be paid by cash or check (made out to Allen Police Department) at the Allen PD Headquarters (205 W. McDermott Drive). Payments may also be dropped off at the Village at Allen substation (190 E. Stacy Road, #1314) Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This class is limited to 25 participants and is expected to fill up quickly.The first 25 paid applications will reserve a spot in the class. If you have completed Basic R.A.D. in the past and want to attend as a refresher, notify Officer Rippamonti ( so he can keep an accurate headcount.
