Looking for memorable ways to celebrate the season? The City of Allen community calendar is packed with creative ideas for all ages.

Gather for the City of Allen Christmas Tree Lighting at City Hall on Friday, Dec. 4; strap on your running shoes for the annual Rudolph Run on Saturday, Dec. 5; or line the streets for the Allen Rotary Christmas Parade on Sunday, Dec. 6.

Looking for Santa? On Dec. 5 he’ll stop by the Kiwanis pancake breakfast. He’ll also join the Bethany Lakes holiday hayride on Dec. 11, host “Selfies with Santa” at Joe Farmer Recreation Center on Dec. 19-20 and visit swimmers at Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium on Dec. 18.

Music lovers can enjoy everything from the classic to the kitschy with performances from Allen Symphony Chorus on Dec. 5 or Randy Brooks (writer of “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer”) on Dec. 11. Brian Setzer and his orchestra will jam to holiday tunes during their stop at Allen Event Center on Dec. 11. And Note-Ably North Texas will treat guests to Cocoa, Cookies and Carols on Dec. 11-12.

On stage this holiday season, you can enjoy Allen Community Theatre’s performance of A Christmas Story Dec. 4-19 or Allen Civic Ballet’s annual performance of The Nutcracker on Dec. 19-20. Treat kids to a special gift with tickets to Disney Live: Three Classic Fairy Tales, coming to Allen Event Center Dec. 27. Or enjoy the Allen Community Ice Rink’s Holidays on Ice Show Dec. 6—free, if you bring a non-perishable food item to donate.
