Come celebrate the ribbon cutting and art dedication of the Cottonwood Creek Trail Bridge! A formal dedication will be held at the bridge at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 13. A reception at Rudy's Country Store and Bar-B-Q will follow the dedication.
The Cottonwood Creek Trail Bridge is part of the first trail system that connects east and west Allen, allowing access underneath US 75. This $1.2 million trail project was funded with $581,000 in state and county grants and $564,000 from the Allen Community Development Corporation.
The Allen Public Art committee also provided $100,000 to enhance the bridge with artwork. The bridge railings feature artwork titled "Current Drift," created by Texas artists Bill FitzGibbons and George Schroeder. Their inspiration for the piece came from a flowing creek through a pastoral setting.
Guests can park in the Rudy's parking lot (1790 N Central Expressway) and walk or take a golf cart to the new bridge. In the event of inclement weather, the dedication will also take place at Rudy's.
