Keep Allen Beautiful wins Keep America Beautiful national award

Keep Allen Beautiful’s efforts to create a cleaner, healthier and more beautiful community are being recognized with a prestigious national award. The organization was recognized with the 2015 Keep America Beautiful National Community Improvement Award during a February conference. This award is only presented to one city out of 600 national affiliates.

Keep Allen Beautiful (KAB) is a volunteer organization supported by the City of Allen. In 2015, KAB’s efforts resulted in:

• 1,453 volunteers in the Adopt-A programs, who regularly cleaned local highways, waterways, and other spots
• 99 cleanup events
• 78 tons of reusable or recyclable items collected during citywide cleanup events, including the Great American Cleanup and Allen Recycles Day
• 6 tons of litter collected
• $23,756 in grants received to continue community beautification and environmental awareness

KAB also received the Keep Texas Beautiful Gold Star and was named a Sustained Excellence Affiliate for the eleventh consecutive year. It has received the Keep America Beautiful President’s Circle award for ten consecutive years.
