[ARCHIVED] Help Your Child Become a Lifelong Reader

Join Allen Public Library’s “1,000 Books Before Kindergarten” and receive prizes along your reading journey! Any child can participate in the program starting at birth until they enter kindergarten.

If reading 1,000 books before kindergarten seems impossible, consider this: if you read three books a day for just one year, that’s 1,095 books! Or you could read one book a day for three years and still surpass the 1,000-book mark. Repetition is great for growing minds, so feel free to read the same book more than once—each time you read counts!

You can sign up for the program at the Children’s Desk inside Allen Public Library (300 N. Allen Drive). A librarian will provide you with a reading log to track your first 100 books. Once you reach the end of that log, return it to the library to get a prize and your next reading log.
