[ARCHIVED] Thank You, Monarch Butterfly Project Volunteers

butterflies.jpg

Since 1990, about 970 million Monarch Butterflies have vanished. Only about 30 million remain. But we can help by creating waystations along their flight pattern from Mexico through the United States to Canada.

Allen Parks and Recreation, in partnership with Keep Allen Beautiful, was awarded a small grant from the Native Plant Society of Texas to convert a 3,000-square-foot garden to one of these Monarch Waystations. This project will also promote public awareness, contribute toward the Monarch's and other butterflies' and bees' conservation, and educate the public on best practices for future Monarch and pollinator garden projects.

In a matter of days after announcing this project, all of the volunteer positions were filled. Thank you, volunteers, for your willingness to help save Monarch Butterflies by assisting with this project.
