The City of Allen is taking part in a week of activities to help educate and empower victims of crime. This year’s theme—Serving Victims. Building Trust. Restoring Hope.—emphasizes the importance of intervention and victim services, such as Allen Police Department’s crime victim advocate.
Allen Police is partnering with Collin County Crime Victims’ Council to coordinate events drawing attention to issues of sex trafficking and domestic violence. The week will end with “An Evening of Empowerment,” which treats crime victims and their families to an evening of pampering and a special dinner, along with wellness and legal resources.
Mayor Stephen Terrell recognized the importance of honoring crime victims and those who serve them during a proclamation at the city council meeting on April 12, saying that “creating trust in victims…begins to restore their hope for healing and recovery."
