Pedestrians will soon have a new way to cross over Cottonwood Creek near the Old Stone Dam.
A destination bridge, connecting Allen's historic water station to the Cottonwood Creek Hike & Bike Trail, is being constructed just south of the Old Stone Dam and is expected to be completed in July.
Spanning 120 feet in length with a 12-foot width, the bridge will include two overlooks, giving passersby an opportunity to enjoy the scenic view.
The structure will be composed of Corten weathered steel, which is a type of sturdy steel with a rust-like appearance that eliminates the need for being painted, and IPE decking, a hardwood that is known for durability and resistance to decay.
