With summer approaching, warmer weather means more opportunities to enjoy water activities, such as swimming, boating and fishing, but special care needs to be taken to avoid accidents that can result in injuries or even drowning.
May is recognized as National Water Safety month, and the Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium is promoting water safety by giving a free swim pass to any child who brings a signed Safe Swimmer Certificate to the facility during the month.
Water Safety Tips
• Never leave a child unattended in a pool or spa and always watch your child when he or she is in or near water
• Teach children basic water safety tips
• Keep children away from pool drains, pipes and other openings to avoid entrapments
• Have a telephone close by when you or your family is using a pool
