[ARCHIVED] City Names New Director of Engineering

Chris Flanigan, Assistant Director of Engineering for the City of Allen, has been promoted to Director of Engineering effective August 1. Flanigan fills the vacancy left by John Baumgartner upon his retirement.

City Manager Peter Vargas said, “In his 12 years of service to the city, Mr. Flanigan has proven himself to be an outstanding engineer and a very capable leader. He has been at the forefront of managing our growth since 2006, and I look forward to working with him in this new capacity.”
Flanigan holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Kansas State University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Dallas. He is a licensed professional engineer in the State of Texas and a certified floodplain manager.

Beginning his tenure with the City of Allen in 2000, Flanigan served as the project manager for the city capital improvement program into 2006. He served as a development manager from 2006 into 2007 and was later named Assistant Director of Engineering. Flanigan has served in this capacity for the past five years.
