City council members have approved the permit fee for residents who wish to keep chickens in their backyards.
A recent change to city ordinance allows up to four hens to be kept in a coop located at least 20 feet from adjacent property lines. Residents must live on a property that does not prohibit backyard chickens, whether by HOA policy or deed restrictions.
Residents must apply for a permit and provide documentation of their current HOA policies and deed restrictions before adding coops or enclosures. A $25 permit fee must be submitted at the time of application. Permits must be submitted to the Building Inspections Department
