Allen residents can weigh in on the City’s proposed tax rate and budget during two upcoming public hearings.
The proposed tax rate of $0.520 per $100 is a reduction in the current property tax rate of $0.530 per $100. Despite the lowered rate, a combination of new taxable properties and increased appraisal values will increase the City’s total tax intake by $3,565,981 or 6.60%. See official tax rate notice.
Citizens can comment on the proposed budget or property tax rate as part of the public hearings at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23 or 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 6 in the Council Chambers at Allen City Hall (305 Century Parkway). As part of the public hearings, highlights of the proposed budget will be presented.
