Both the Citizens Police Academy and Community Emergency Response Team are accepting applications for the fall training sessions that start early September.
The Citizens Police Academy is a 12 week course offered on Thursday nights beginning Sept. 6. The academy provides Allen residents with an opportunity to learn about all aspects of the police department. Academy graduates are eligible to participate in Citizens on Patrol or Volunteers in Policing. More information is available on the Police Department home page.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is an 8 week training programoffered on Thursday nights beginning Sept. 13. The training program is followed by a Saturday disaster simulation exercise on Nov. 3. The CERT training program educates citizens about disaster preparedness and trains them in basic disaster response skills. More information is available on the Fire Department home page.
