Irrigation timers can be helpful in the summer, but make sure they don't run during a freeze! Members of the City of Allen Water Conservation staff snapped these photos at several Allen homes in December. Landscaping, grass, and even tree branches were coated in a thick film of ice from nearby sprinklers.
Not only does running sprinklers waste water, it creates a dangerous environment on nearby sidewalks and roadways. It is also a violation of the City of Allen Water Conservation Plan to run sprinklers during periods of freezing temperatures. Please ensure sprinklers are "off" when temperatures drop below freezing.
