The intersection of Stacy Road and Greenville Avenue will receive extra upgrades following an agreement between the City of Allen and Town of Fairview.
The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is currently widening Stacy Road to two lanes in each direction. However, the project did not expand the Greenville Avenue intersection to its fullest potential. Knowing that traffic volumes would eventually require a bigger intersection, Allen and Fairview agreed to pitch in $213,000 so TxDOT could finish the expansion now. By completing the work in conjunction with the Stacy Road widening, the project will cost less and cause fewer disruptions to traffic.
Allen will contribute $134,750 toward the construction and design, while Fairview will cover $78,750. The split is based on the amount of pavement added to the intersection in each city’s jurisdiction. Allen city council members approved the interlocal agreement with the Town of Fairview during the Dec. 13 meeting.
