[ARCHIVED] Trees Being Replaced on Exchange Parkway

bradfordpears.jpg

Bradford Pear trees located in two medians on Exchange Parkway are being replaced due to safety and maintenance issues.

Currently, eight trees have been removed from the median located between Country Lane and Meadow Park. Different species of trees that are more suitable for the immediate environment and require less maintenance will be planted in the median.

Upon completion of the first median, about 25 trees will also be replaced in a second median located between N. Allen Heights Drive and Timberbend Trail. During this process, irrigation will also be installed.

Bradford Pear trees can split during conditions such as high winds and ice, creating a hazardous environment with the potential of falling branches causing damage to passing vehicles. More upright trees that don’t extend into the roadway will be used as replacements, such as Highrise Live Oak trees.
