Preservation Texas presented the City of Allen with an Honor Award for the Allen Historic Water Station, during the 2017 Preservation Texas Summit held in February in Waco.
Honor Awards recognize successful efforts to save endangered historic places in Texas that are authentic and irreplaceable. Preservation Texas presented 19 places with Honor Awards this year.
The Allen Historic Water Station was carefully restored and made accessible to the public through park improvements by the City of Allen after being threatened by record-breaking floods. The location is a Texas State Archaeological Landmark that's listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
As a private and nonprofit organization, Preservation Texas advocates for preserving endangered and historic places in Texas. The organization recognizes preservation efforts throughout the state annually.
