A three-way stop just north of Allen Premium Outlets will be improved this summer.
Currently, drivers traveling north or south on Chelsea Boulevard must come to a stop at Allen Commerce Parkway. However, with Allen ISD’s new elementary school opening nearby, city engineers determined the intersection could cause unwanted congestion.
To improve traffic flow, contractors will extend the existing northbound lanes just north of Allen Commerce Parkway. This will eliminate the sharp curve at the intersection and remove the need for stop signs in the northbound and southbound lanes of Chelsea Boulevard.
Allen City Council approved the $276,000 construction contract during the May 9 meeting. The intersection is slated for completion prior to Allen ISD’s first day of school, August 21.
