After years of being referenced as the “Watters Branch” or “west side” park, Allen City Council has adopted an official name for the city’s next big park.
Allen Parks & Recreation asked residents to suggest names for the new park, located at the southwest corner of Ridgeview Drive and Bray Central Drive. After narrowing the list to five names, the Allen Parks and Recreation Board found a favorite in “Spirit Park.”
Allen City Council voted unanimously to accept the board’s suggestion during the May 23 council meeting. When completed, the 75-acre park will include a lighted softball complex, multi-use fields, a looped pedestrian trail and a playground.
