Allen is preparing for changes in traffic patterns due to the construction of a new office building, hotel and convention center along US 75 and Bethany Drive.
City council members approved a plan to redesign two intersections near the new One Bethany office building and Watters Creek Convention Center during the May 23 meeting. Both Watters Road and Watters Creek Boulevard will receive added traffic lanes and sidewalk enhancements, along with traffic signal improvements and new signage.
The cost of the $158,000 redesign will be covered through partnership funds from Watters Creek owners, along with roadway impact fees. These fees are paid by developers to offset the cost of street improvements related to new construction projects. The City intends to make all intersection improvements before the new hotel and convention center opens to the public.
