Allen is among the 50 Safest Cities in Texas, according to a new report from SafeWise. The home security website used annual FBI Crime Report to create the rankings. Allen was listed as the 16th safest city in Texas, up eight spots from 2016.
Safewise found crime rates are dropping statewide, with Texas leading the way for diminishing urban crime rate. Seventy-eight percent of cities in the top fifty reported zero murders to the FBI in 2015.
The rankings use data from the 2015 FBI crime statistics, which provides the most recent crime data available. The data includes property crimes, such as burglary and arson, along with violent offenses from all law enforcement agencies that participate in the FBI Uniform Crime Reporting program.
